In 2017, the company merged with the Mountain States Mutual Casualty Company to market commercial products as the Mountain States Insurance Group in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah.
Since 1909, Ginnell Mutual has been insuring people, and today it is the 114th-largest property-casualty insurance company in the U.S.. and the largest primary reinsurer of farm mutual companies in North America. Their insurance products are sold in 19 states.
