Nationwide has grown from a small mutual auto insurance company, owned by policyholders who spent their days farming in Ohio, to one of the largest insurance and financial services companies in the world. Nationwide is a Fortune 100 company that offers a full range of insurance and financial services across the country. Nationwide’s insurance products include car, motorcycle, homeowners, pet, farm, life and commercial insurance. And Nationwide’s financial services include annuities, mutual funds, retirement plans and specialty health services. Let’s take a look at the different auto insurance coverages offered by Nationwide and ways to save money on Nationwide Auto insurance policies.

Nationwide Auto Insurance Coverages

Here are the different car insurance coverages offered by Nationwide Auto.

Bodily injury Liability. If you cause an accident and someone is injured, Bodily Injury Liability can help pay their medical bills and loss of income. Bodily Injury Liability coverage is required by law in many states.

Property Damage Liability. If you are the cause of a car accident, Property Damage Liability helps pay for damages to another person’s vehicle or property. Property Damage Liability coverage is required by law in many states.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP). This coverage pays medical bills and lost wages and other expenses that add up quickly in a car accident. PIP is a no-fault coverage and is required in some states.

Uninsured Motorist. This type of insurance helps protect you and your vehicle from uninsured drivers and hit-and-run accidents. This coverage is required by law in many states.

Underinsured Motorist. This kind of coverage helps protect you from drivers who do not have enough insurance to cover the costs of an accident. This coverage as well is required by law in many states.

Medical Payments. Also known as med pay, Medical Payments coverage helps pay medical costs for you and your passengers in the event of a covered accident.

Collision. Regardless of who’s at fault, collision insurance can pay for damage to your vehicle if you hit another vehicle or object, another vehicle hits you, or your vehicle rolls over.

If you are financing your car, your lender may require you to carry collision insurance.

Comprehensive. This insurance can help pay for damage to your vehicle from vandalism, theft, weather events and accidents involving animals. If you have a loan on your car, your lender may require you to carry comprehensive insurance coverage.

Towing and Labor. This coverage can help when your car is stuck, broken down or inoperable due to an accident.

Rental Car Expense. This type of insurance coverage provides access to a rental car or other transportation while your car is in the repair shop after a covered accident. This coverage also is known as loss of use or transportation expenses.

Gap Coverage. If your car is a total loss after an accident, this coverage may pay the difference between the actual cash value of the car and what you owe on a lease or a loan.

Accident Forgiveness. With this coverage, you avoid a rate increase because of the first at-fault accident or minor violation on your policy.

Roadside Assistance. You get 24 hours a day, seven days a week, emergency road service if you need fuel, a tire change, a jumpstart or a tow.

Vanishing Deductible. You earn $100 off your deductible for each year of safe driving up to $500.
