Utica Mutual Compensation Company was founded in 1914 as a workers compensation insurance carrier. The company quickly expanded its business by offering more coverage options and quickly becoming one of the New York State’s most successful and respectful mutual insurance organizations. Utica adopted the independent agent system in 1928 in order to sell auto insurance in areas not easily accessed by the office located in New York. Even during the Great Depression and World War II, the company kept growing and expanding. By the end of the 1940’s, Utica’s assets had more than doubled. Today, Utica National Insurance Group is an award-winning, nationally recognized organization that provides a variety of personal and commercial insurance products, through more than 2,200 independent agents across the country. The company has seven regional offices located in Virginia, Ohio, two in New York, Massachusetts, Texas, and Georgia.
