Founded in 1988 in Quincy, Massachusetts, Arbella took over Kemper Group’s Massachusetts auto insurance business, which was then-troubled. Arbella’s founders worked to strengthen their partnership with independent agents. Arbella is a mutual company owned by its policyholders and prides itself on excellent customer service. In 2004, Arbella formed the Arbella Insurance Foundation to support not-for-profit organizations that have a positive impact on the communities Arbella serves, donating more than $13 million to 960 different charities. Arbella also founded the Arbella Insurance Group Charitable Foundation in 2004. Arbella has consistently ranked as one of the best places to work in New England.
