Esurance is a subsidy of Allstate and has been providing insurance since 1999.
Founded in 1999 and purchased by Allstate in 2011, Esurance has the spirit of a startup but the backing of Allstate as a multiline insurance company with an A+ financial rating. Using state-of-the-art technology, Esurance offers online and mobile services that enable a more efficient payment and claims process. Esurance sells the vehicle and property insurance around the county, and they are still growing. In 1999, Jean-Bernard Duler, Jeffrey L. Goodman, Huyen Bui, David Griffin, and Charles Wallace founded Esurance as one of the first insurance companies to sell policies directly to consumers online, without the need for in-person meetings or telephone calls.
In 2011, Allstate not only bought Esurance but also the insurance comparison site, Answer Financial for nearly $1 billion. At that time, Esurance was selling policies in 30 states. With Esurance as a wholly-owned subsidiary, the company became the sixth-largest auto insurance provider.
Esurance began advertising on television five years after it was launched. The focus of the ads was 18 to 24-year-olds and had a modest budget of $60,000. The character, Erin Esurance, was a pink-haired spy, who increased brand awareness. However, she had become unpopular with viewers. The character of Erin Esurance was retired by 2010 because pornographic images of Erin were created and most internet searches had pornographic results. Esurance’s 2010 advertising campaign was set in a fictional Esurance office but featured actual Esurance employees, this time with a broader demographic in mind. The following year, it announced the tag line, “Insurance for the Modern World,” with a focus on consumers age 25-49.
In 2015 Esurance created a Super Bowl XLIX commercial, featuring Bryan Cranston parodying Walter White from Breaking Bad. In 2015, Esurance and Major League Baseball announced a sponsorship. As of August 2018, the company’s ad campaign features Dennis Quaid as a likable spokesperson. Esurance’s new slogan about its insurance services is “surprisingly painless.”

If you let your car insurance payments lapse, you may lose coverage. If you lose coverage, it’ll cost you to reinstate it. Other insurers will also be hesitant to offer you a low rate for coverage. The reason behind this is that this is considered high-risk behavior, to let your insurance lapse. It indicates that you may be driving without insurance.
Yes, Esurance offers SR-22 and FR-44 filing, both of which are used to prove financial responsibility. Your state’s licensing authority will let you know if you need one. If you’ve had a DUI or DWI or driving with a revoked license you may need one. Other reasons include reckless driving, traffic infractions, being at fault in an accident without insurance and more. The FR-44 is only used in Florida and Virginia.
