Allied was founded in 1925 and has since been acquired by Nationwide.
Allied Mutual Automobile Association was formed by Harold Evans in 1929. After years of operating as a standalone brand, Allied Insurance became Nationwide in 1998. Policies, documents, bills and account statements for Allied customers are now featuring the Nationwide name and logo.
Nationwide’s start begian in 1925 when Murray D. Lincoln formed the company the Farm Bureau Mutual Automobile Insurance Company with the goal of selling auto insurance at low rates for farmers in Ohio. By 1928, Farm Bureau Mutual was expanding into other states including West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Vermont, and North Carolina. By 1934, the company was insuring motorists in metropolitan areas and writing property insurance policies too and by 1943 was operating in 12 states and the District of Columbia. In 1955, the company changed its name to Nationwide, expanding into 20 new states. In 1982, Nationwide began acquiring other companies and went public in 1997. In 1998, Nationwide acquired Allied Insurance. Today, Nationwide is a Fortune 100 company with a full range of insurance and financial services across the country, including car, motorcycle, boat, homeowners, pet, farm, life and commercial insurance, annuities, mortgages, mutual funds, pensions, long-term savings plans and specific health services.

Allied was acquired by Nationwide and became Nationwide in 1998. The Allied insurance brand name is still used in the Nationwide Allied Rewards program. On the Nationwide homepage, it proudly states, “Allied is Nationwide.”
Allied insurance’s 12-month rate lock, provided through Nationwide Insurance, protects both your car and home with your rate locked for 12 months. Most insurance companies only guarantee six months.
Allied’s Powersports insurance program covers motorcycles, boats, RVs, ATVs, and snowmobiles. Nationwide covers a wide range of recreational vehicles.
The Allied Extra program is a reward program for people who bundle home and auto insurance policies with Allied Nationwide. The program includes a single deductible for both home and auto, emergency lockout coverage, for locksmiths for home or auto; airbag replacement if your airbag deploys accidentally; and accidental death benefit which pays $10,000 in the event of your death in a covered accident involving your insured vehicle.
Allied auto insurance deductible rewards include a vanishing deductible option that you can add to your policy. You will save if you get into an accident if you have a vanishing deductible. To be exact, $100 will be marked down from your deductible for each year of safe driving. If you have any marks against you, you will not get the deduction for the year but are eligible again the following year.
Allied life insurance options include term life insurance, whole life insurance, universal life insurance, and variable universal life insurance. Term life insurance only covers you for a specified amount of time and will not pay out a beneficiary if the insured dies after the term coverage has ended. Whole life insurance is permanent insurance, which means that it lasts an entire lifetime. Your beneficiary is guaranteed a cash value that you can borrow or withdraw too. Universal life insurance is also permanent and lasts a lifetime. This product, too, allows you to borrow or withdraw from funds. Universal life is a permanent life insurance product and can be customized. It also earns a cash value that grows based on a fixed interest rate. With universal life insurance, you can borrow or withdraw from the cash value if you need it. Variable universal life insurance is permanent, flexible and earns cash value you can access through withdrawals and loans. With this product, however, your cash value is invested in the stock market with the options you choose, based on risk.
Yes, Allied homeowners insurance offers discounts, like a multi-policy discount, a gated community discount, home renovation discount (updated plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling or roofing), home purchase discount (get insured within 12 months of home purchase), protective device discount and claims-free discount.
When you have full coverage with Allied Nationwide Insurance, you have collision and comprehensive coverage for your vehicle. Collision coverage pays for physical damage to your car if you collide with another car or object and it is your fault. You may add special physical damage coverage to your policy, too, if you want any damaged property to be replaced with new and original-equipment manufactured parts. Comprehensive insurance will take care of damages to your car that were caused by anything other than a collision with an object or another car, for example, a fire, theft, broken glass and falling objects. You may also have loan/lease gap coverage, which would cover the remaining balance after you’re paid out the value of a car (if you owe more on your loan than the car’s value). Some people opt to add on new car replacement coverage, which would replace a totaled car with the full value of the car so that you don’t lose money due to the car’s depreciation. With rental reimbursement, you’ll get basic loss of use coverage to use on car rental or public transportation. You can also extend this coverage with a Rental Days Plus enhancement so that you can be covered for rental car coverage for an unlimited number of days (as long as you need for your car to be repaired). With special physical damage coverage, your damaged property will be replaced with original new equipment manufactured parts.
